About

“I live my life in growing orbits,
which move out over the things of the world.
Perhaps I can never achieve the last,
but that will be my attempt.

I am circling around God, around the ancient tower
and I have been circling for a thousand years,
and I still don’t know if I am a falcon, or a storm
or a great song.”

-R.M. Rilke

I was raised in Portland, Oregon and spent my childhood playing and learning from the rivers and forests of the American West. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in art history, I spent a number of years in an intensive study of literature, reading and writing my way through the Americas and the world.

At the age of 30, after having spent years drawing increasingly elaborate doodles in the margins of my writing notebooks, I began formally studying painting, drawing and design. I studied under excellent teachers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, developing my sensitivity to color, composition and technique.

Today, I still live on the West Coast, painting, designing, shooting photos and writing. All of which are inspired by the beauty and ever-deepening mystery of nature.
